T. Chandler Hardwick
T. Chandler Hardwick joins GLP as a partner with an established career as an accomplished, recognized independent school leader. An educator with over thirty-five years’ experience in independent schools, he is widely regarded as one of the most successful independent school headmasters of his generation. Named the 15th Headmaster of Blair Academy in 1989 and serving in that capacity until 2013, Chan—as he is known—brought to Blair a sustained period of visionary school leadership, initially developed during his previous twelve years as a teacher/administrator at The Taft School. At Blair, Chan’s creative leadership and navigation through the last two decades propelled the school forward. Today Blair enjoys a position as a highly regarded, selective school with a student body 50% larger, a campus doubled in size and facilities, and a significantly strengthened endowment than when the Hardwick era began.
Chan was educated at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where he received an AB degree in philosophy and later an MA degree in English from Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf School of English.
