Tom Owen

Director of Thought Leadership

As GLP’s Director of Thought Leadership, Tom Owen helps the organization articulate and share its ideas with a broad audience. He first collaborated with GLP by serving as a key editorial consultant for the 2017 white paper “From Financial Sustainability to ‘Thriveability’: Why We Need to Change the Conversation.” Currently enrolled as a full-time master’s student at the Klingenstein Center for Independent School Leadership at Columbia University’s Teachers College, Tom previously taught high school English at St. Luke’s School and served as the Assistant Director of Communications at Brooks School. He has also written articles for the alumni magazines of St. Paul’s School and Connecticut College. In the fall of 2019, Tom will join the faculty of Episcopal High School as an English teacher. Tom is especially interested in how schools and not-for-profits can take a strategic approach to building diverse, equitable, and inclusive organizational cultures, a commitment that is informed by his positioning as a biracial educator. The son of a college professor and an independent school head, Tom attended Pine Point School, St. Paul’s School, and Dartmouth College.
